Consular Intervention of Documents

The Consulate General legalizes, authenticates and intervenes all type of documentation. The documents can usually be collected within 24 to 48 hours, provided that: i) an appointment has been taken for submission of the documents, and ii) the documents are found to be correct as per our requirements.

Commercial Documents

1. Merchandise exported from India to Argentina
The Consulate General intervenes all types of export and shipping documents, including commercial invoices, certificates of origin, price lists and shipping bills. The procedure usually takes between 24 to 48 hours; however, all documents must be intervened by a Chamber of Commerce registered with the Consulate General prior to being submitted.

The Consulate General currently has the following Chambers of Commerce registered with it:
Please note that as per the Argentine customs law in force, exporters of textiles are required to submit a copy of the commercial invoice for authentication, in addition to other documents.

2. Merchandise exported from India to Argentina, manufactured in other countries

This refers to goods that are manufactured in a third country (for example, China) which are first imported into Indian and then exported to Argentina. This is a case of re-exportation. The following documents will be required:
  1. A copy of the commercial invoice of the purchase of the merchandise from the third country.
  2. Certificate of origin and affidavit; both documents should certify that the product being exported to Argentina has been manufactured in a third country. The affidavit should be printed on the reverse of the certificate of origin by the Indian exporter.
  3. Any other documents which make up the export procedure.

Non-commercial Documents

The Consulate General also intervenes other documents as per the applicant's request. In the case of legalization, prior to being submitted, the documents need to be notarized at the State Home Ministry. The address is as below:

State Home Ministry,
Madame Cama Road,
Nariman Point,
Mumbai – 400032.
Tel: +91 22 22024982

All non-commercial documents presented for legalization need to be translated into Spanish by an Official Translator, and the translations themselves need to be legalized as well. Click here to see the list of Official Translators recognized by the Consulate General.

Please note that notarization and translation are normally not required in the case of attestation and authentication, such as authentication of photocopies of passports etc.

Registration of Seals and Signatures

The Consulate General invites Chambers of Commerce and public notaries to register themselves by sending us specimens of their seals and signatures. Please contact us for more information on how you can become a recognised Chamber of Commerce.
